Pen + Brush is pleased to present Katelyn Kopenhaver, Paola Martínez Fiterre, Renee Cox an exhibition of new and recent works by three contemporary photographers engaged in a dialogue about ways in which bodies, specifically the female body, are seen and depicted today. These three artists are focused on manipulation of the body through narrational explorations of identity. Two emerging photo and performance artists are brought together with contemporary photography staple and renowned artist, Renée Cox, between their works a conversation about what it means to be a contemporary artist working in photography today emerges. Featuring dark room photographs, digital prints, video, and two distinct performances, the subversive and at times hard-edged nature of contemporary art’s avant-garde is presented alongside formal and technical elements of traditional photography and new realities for fine art photography are embraced.
