Heejung Kim, Director
Heejung Kim is an artist and art educator. Kim received her B.F.A. from Duk-Sung Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea, and received a scholarship from that university to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she obtained an M.A. in Art Education. She received her M.F.A. degree at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Kim taught studio arts at New Jersey City University and Duk-Sung Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea. Currently, she teaches at Raritan Valley Community College in New Jersey.
In addition to her teaching experience, Kim had worked as a program/exhibition manager at the Asian American Arts Centre in Manhattan, as a board of director at the Asian American Women Artists Alliance in Brooklyn, and as a gallery director at Closter Art Studio in New Jersey.
Kim has exhibited nationally, including solo exhibitions, at New Jersey City University, Oregon States University, Stephen Gang Gallery and Space World in NYC, and Kougeas Gallery in Boston. She participated in group exhibitions at Cleveland State University (OH), Asian American Arts Centre (NYC), SUNY at Stony Brook (NY), Heidi Cho Gallery (Chelsea, NYC), and the Noyes Museum (NJ). Kim has also exhibited internationally in South Korea, Greece, Hong Kong, and Spain. Kim’s artworks have appeared in ARTnews (1997), The New York Times (NJ section, 2005), Artists’ Books Reviews (2006), Ampersand (2007), and The Star-Ledger (2009).
Heejung Kim’s work is in many public and private collections including the Princeton Art Museum in New Jersey.
